A Brief Profile of the Company
Decorating by Charlie was founded in Jamestown, ND by Charlie and Jan Skeel in 1980. Charlie got his start in the painting business with his father, Woody, who started with his father, Charlie. For over 45 years, Charlie was involved in the painting business. Since 1980, Decorating by Charlie has established a large and diverse portfolio.
After 31 successful years, Charlie & Jan decided to retire in 2011 and sold the business to Jay & Nicole Haut.
Ramone and Leann Gumke purchased the business in 2021, bringing a background in construction and building custom furniture. Decorating by Charlie continues to be the largest paint contractor in Stutsman County. A talented, dedicated, and experienced crew with a dedication to quality and service, the tradition of "Quality That Cares" instilled by founder Charlie Skeel lives on.
The business continues to work throughout central ND, doing mostly commercial and some residential work, including new construction & remodeling.

Nikki has been a long-term employee with Decorating by Charlie and knows the business inside and out. Having been promoted to General Manager, she runs the day-to-day with dedication and an eye for the details and quality!
